Wake Up!!!

Ok folks, the right wing loonies are out in force. The Bush Administration
has screwed up a lot more than the "base" thought they ever could. They
are drunk with power and aren't about to give it up without a fight. Don't
think it will be a clean fight. The Far Right has broken all the rules. Sean
Hannity, Bill O'Reilly, Rush Limbaugh, Ann Coulter, and others, are pumping
up the volume. They are screaming like methed-out trailer queens. The
shrillness of their madness is beginning to show the fissures that are growing
within the alleged close ranked unity of the Republican stormtroopers.

Liberals in America are determined not to let the Bush Administration
get away with what they did in 2000 and are working hard to build
the infrastructure for a long term movement, taking cues from the
far right who began work on the 1994 takeover back in 1964, following
Barry Goldwater's crushing defeat in that year's presidential campaign.
David Brock has scored some serious hits with his two books, "Blinded By
The Right" and "The Republican Noise Machine,"and his Media Matters for America
website (www.mediamatters.org), is dogging the right wing media by attacking
their lies and publishing the truth. Air America is slowly but
surely building a solid audience nationwide, on the internet, and is winning
the ratings war against Rush Limbaugh in NYC, nipping on his heels in other
cities where they have a local station. MoveOn.org has been a juggernaut in
raising money to place ads that criticize Bush administration policies
. both print and broadcast, that are running in major national papers.
Buzzflash.com, which scours the nations press and collates the stories that
the Washington Post and New York Times so mysteriously miss,
is growing leaps and bounds with the number of regular visitors
in the millions. The Center For American Progress, headed by John Podesta,
has been working hard to counter the right's think tank powerhouse,
The Heritage Foundation, and have begun to make inroads in getting their
fellows onto some of the cable gabfests. These are the folks that we
should be supporting, as well as a number of other young upstarts.

The presidential election is just the beginning. Without a majority or a strong
minority presence in the House or the Senate, John Kerry's future presidency
could suffer the same uphill battle that President Clinton did. The far right is
not going away. They will slither back to their think tanks and regroup to fight
another day. We progressives need to put our money where our mouths are.
If the last 3 plus years haven't convinced you of the evil that men can do,
then you are sorely lost. We can not afford to lose again. We need to work
to reduce the power of the two party system, by supporting parties like
The Greens. We need to build a strong multi-party system, by supporting
alternative candidates that reflect strong progressive values, starting on the local
and state levels. We can ill afford to be impatient. It will be a long battle to
break up the two party monopoly. There are many ways to do this and
I will gab about this more later. In the meantime, make sure to remind
the folks out there, that the far right are crazy. Do it at every turn.
Get all psychological on them. Make them begin to question their belief
in the ill-fated policies of the current Republican tyranny. It's pretty damn
funny that the Far Right in their blatantly partisan attacks on Fahrenheit 911,
have actually driven people to see the movie, rather than creating the
protesting hoards that they fantasized about. I think that the masses are
starting to get a clue, especially when they are being told not to see something.
Didn't these idiots learn anything about reverse psychology?
