John Peel died on Monday 10.27.2004
John Peel, one of the most influential D.J.s ever in UK History, died from a heart attack on Monday. Relatively unknown on US shores, Peel championed many of today's alternative hero's both here and abroad. Northern Ireland's, The Undertones were ignored by the major labels until he played "Teenage Kick's", the band's first single, on almost every show.
John Peel's favorite band, The Undertones, making a rare appearance
at NYC's Knitting Factory in March 2004.
The Guardian, has a great tribute to John Peel on their website.
