Artless and Bored

It's four days away folks and now is the time that we need to protect our democracy. There are folks who want to deny Americans their right to choose the candidate for president. I don't have to say who it is, because if you have been watching anything other than Fox News, you know who it is. There is constitutional protections against being prohibited from voting and these folks think that it is their right to keep others from exercising that right. What I am asking is, that you take the attached file and print it out. Hand it out to as many people as you can. It has a bunch of web sites and emergency numbers that you can call in order to report voter suppression efforts. This is nothing new, but folks are prepared this time to intervene legally on yours or others behalves. That means Republicans, too. I don't want to see anyone denied the right to vote. Of course I have my preferences, but we have a democracy here and we need to treat others with the same respect that we want to be treated with, even when they may not give the same respect to us. If you have time, stick around your polling places with these handouts. Keep an eye out. Acquaint yourselves with the poll watchers and let them know if you see anything that seems fishy. AS you are walking to the polls, look out for folks who may try to misdirect folks who are going to vote. Look out for folks trying to tell others that are attempting to challenge would be voters on their way to the polls. This will happen. There are well documented instances of these attempts, many successful, at voter suppression in the 2000 election. Millions of voters were disenfranchised in 2000. It is up to us as Americans to keep our democracy alive. To help to re-instill faith in our democratic processes. If we lose that faith, we are in big trouble.
Anyway, it will be over soon and we will begin another journey. What is important here, is that we do not let those who wish to poison the process get away with it. We have fought to long for what this great country has come to stand for in the world today. Don't let it be taken away. It is time to fight back.
