Time to wake up from our slumber.
It's been a long week. Friends are looking down at their shoes wondering how in the hell did we Democrats lose this election? What can we do now? Many pundits and moronic DLC hacks are telling us we need to move to the center. What the hell do they think that the party has been doing for the last 10 or so years? Moving to the center dimwit!!! As Dems moved to the "center," the Republican right moved the center farther right. Instead of trumpeting long held Democratic values, which by the way most Americans agree with, we engaged in a losing battle of trying to appease swing voters. My definition of swing voters is this: Lazy fucking couch potatoes who plea that they don't have the time to engage in the political process, but have the time to watch the hell which is reality TV and can recite from memory all of the "Friends" plotlines. So, they jump in at the worst time of the process, the final month, where they are bombarded by lying, distorted campaign spots, that for some god awful reason are not subject to the same rules as corporate commercials. Oh, it's political speech, so we don't have to tell the truth. I guess being jobless and lacking affordable healthcare and shit schools is not enough to make you vote against this awful administration.
Anyway, it is time for us progressives/liberals to wake up. I am awed by the grassroots organizing that we have done over the last few years. It really is impressive. We prevented Bush from gaining a mandate. He does not have a mandate or anything near it. We need to sound this near and far. BUSH DOES NOT HAVE A MANDATE!!! They think that they do and the rubes who voted for this administration based on FEAR and FAITH, will soon find out. We need to hold our Democratic Officials and Moderate Republicans feet to the fire. Make them stand for what they believe in and were elected for.
48% of America voted against the renewal of the Republican agenda. Those red states are not so red, more purple when you look at the returns and could turn more blue, as the voting irregularities are being investigated at this moment. The investigation should not be about a Kerry/Edwards loss, but about returning true integrity to the only real time that we can flex our political muscle: the Election Process. Note to those who wish to ensconce Kerry in the White House: I would not wish the current state of this country on my worst enemy. The Bushies and their stormtroopers need eat their own shit. They need to take responsibility for the economic and national security messes that they have created. They cannot blame their wrongheaded decisions on Clinton anymore. This is their shitstorm that they have created. So, fuck them.
Keep supporting MoveOn.org. Keep supporting New Democratic Majority. Keep supporting Air America. Keep supporting Buzzflash. We will not go away. We will not give up on those who need us. We are right and we cannot let our country slide back into a New Deal mindset. No access to women's reproductive health, rampant abuse of basic human/civil rights, corporate dominated society, no social safety net, etc... We cannot stop fighting. This is War.
