Red America
Red America is crazy. Now let me quickly explain that Red America is not designated by the states that the media so love to designate so. It is defined by those who wish to remain ingnorant in face of overwhelming factual information that refutes their given belief. Factual Information becomes subjective and only becomes true when their own information outlets cede to the obvious. The problem that arises is that the "liberals", "communists", lesbians, etc..., are then blamed for the problems that they themselves have created. The Poorman so eloquently answers this with: "Appreciate this. Understand that the people killing us in Iraq aren't motivated by Gore Vidal or inspired by Susan Sontag or organized by Michael Moore or in cahoots in any way with any of the right's celebrity piñatas - not literally, not metaphorically, not if you look at it in a certain way, not to any infinitesimal degree, not in any sense, not in any way at all. They do not lead a clandestine international conspiracy of Evil which has corrupted everything in every foreign country plus everything in America not owned by loyal Bush Republican apparatchiks; nor are they members of such a conspiracy; nor does a conspiracy remotely matching that description exist. To think otherwise is, literally and to a very great degree, insanity. It is insane."
That sums it up. They are insane. Their own failings have lead them to believe that immigration, gays, liberals, etc..., are why they hate their wives, hate their jobs, can't save any money, their rich corporate boss won't give them a raise, their rich CEO raided their retirement accounts, yada, yada, yada. The Republicans say that they are the party of responsibility, personal responsibility, wanting to create a ownership society, yet they blame all of societies ills on everyone else. There is no room for introspection. Most conservatives tell me that I hate America, or I am a part of the socialist world conspiracy. While I want to piss my pants with laughter, I am also saddened that they are so damn stupid. Not one could actually explain how I hate America, or what socialism even is about. One can usually refute just about any argument that the right wing throws at you, but they will always live in the fantasy that they are under attack, because that is where their strength is derived from. What a sad and lonely life it must be to believe that the whole world is against you.
