The Pride of Kansas: Fred Phelps, Good Loving Christian, Spews More Hate Towards Those Who Do Not Share His "Christian Values."
Ah, Reverend Fred "Yes, I am an inbred idiot" Phelps, is back with a new campaign of hate. I had the pleasure of facing Fred and his band of inbred, ignorant, hateful idiot dunces, a few years ago, when they picketed the New York Underground Film 
Festival ostensibly because they would not show a documentary about the hatemonger. The setup across the street from hte entrance to the venue inside of a little corral, protected by New York's finest, spouting moronic, hateful slogans, carrying "God Hates Fags," signs, and praying to God to rain down hellfire. Having grown up in a Christian home, my experience was not one of shouting hate, praying hate, singing hate, but one of love and living a life that might actually be attractive to "non-believers." Fred and The Hatemongers, Just do not get it. Folks run from this type of vitriol. They are told that God loves us all, but their approach doesn't even attract those who might actually agree with them. For the most part, Kansas christians tend to hide from this display of hate, even when they might agree with the basic premise.
Now Fred is out attacking John Edwards and saying that his younger son's death was God exacting revenge on him for being anything left of Fred's beliefs. This is disgusting, but I do believe that he has a right to speech, not that I agree with it. His speech should get his and all his followers asses kicked, but that would put them in the martyr category. The way to go with this asshole, is ignore, but keep him in your peripheral vision. This will be a busy week for the Phelps machine, as they picket a John Edwards appearance in Kansas, and Phelps's granddaughter tries to unseat the only gay official in Kansas.
This gay-baiting, rotting Cryptkeeper™ and his tribe of hate will not stop their shit. For those of you not familiar with Phelps, he made a big name for himself and his church by picketing Matthew Shepard's funeral, gracing the event with placards such as "AIDS kills fags dead" and "Matthew Shepard rots in hell." The latest in outreach by the Westboro Baptist Church "ministry" is that he and his hate mongers are going to picket former VP candidate and Senator John Edwards on March 4 at the Ramada Inn in Downtown Topeka, KS. (More Here)
