Americans Do Not Support Congressional Intervention In Schiavo Case, Unless They Are Ardent Pro-Lifers Or Are About To Be Indicted.

Daily Kos discusses How out of touch folks like Bush, DeLay, Frist, etc... are with the realities in America. Pandering to the Pro-Life right wingers they are shouting that the courts were wrong, when the case has been litigated for over 15 years. A Florida judge refused to order the reinsertion of the feeding tube and the Federal Appeals Court in Atlanta have reaffirmed that decision. Terri Shiavo has been in a persistant vegetative state for 15 years and a host of doctors have said there is no hope of her recovering. The Schindlers, Terri's parents, have been dragged into the morass of crazy right wing conservative politics and I feel truly sorry for them. I don't fault them, as she is their offspring, but you have to begin to believe when a number of doctors have said that Terri will not likely recover. When you go shopping for umpteen alternative opinions, you are going to find some quack who will affirm your emotional belief. These doctors need to have their licenses revoked. We wonder why health care costs are so high.

Ok, back to the American public. 64% of Americans polled oppose Congresses intervention in the Shiavo case with 33% supporting intervention, with a margin of error of plus or minus 3%. 67% believe that the Republicans are using this as a political play. Not so good for the morons in the majority. Now President Pee-Pants has a problem on his hands, especially after his "heroic" flight back to D.C. to save the nearly braindead Terri Schiavo. Clearly not the smartest move on the Bushies part. I hear the rumblings now. I guess these folks have found enough rope to hang themselves with.

Anyway, some Republicans are getting, and the dominant opinion in Democratic as well as Republican circles is that this political gamble, on the part of the leading Republican cons in the White House and Congress, will backfire. Let's hope so. Now if we could just rid ourselves of the DLC, we Dems could really show what we stand for and take back the country for the better.
