Easter 2005 and A Dropkick Sunday.

I have to say, The Dropkick Murphys are one of the most generous, truly from the heart, bands around. When I am away, I tend not to check my e-mail unless I am expecting something important, otherwise it waits until I return home. I don't like to lug my laptop around. Anyway, I found in my inbox an e-mail from the DKM mailing list. Innocuous enough, there is usually a holiday greetings from the gang. What was unusual, but not so, was that they were offering free tickets to their Easter Sunday show. I jumped at the chance, since I have been unemployed my entertainment budget has been slim. A few minutes later, I found myself on the guestlist and a photopass to boot. It made my weekend, as the whole Terri Schiavo affair has been bumming me out.
The Dropkicks were in fine form, even previewing a cut from their upcoming release. Ripping through the classics and some of the covers that they have recorded and are chronicled on the second installment of their singles collections, the crowd sang every word with abandon. On this tour, the band has been issuing challenges to a audience member to join them onstage in singing their old classic "Barroom Hero." Sunday's winner, took the mic and stage by storm, as though he'd been practicing at home for just this moment. He had the moves, studied from many a show he attended. I have to give him props for having the guts to join his heros on stage. Me, I freeze doing Karaoke. Shit!!! Anyway, Here is a little taste of the show in photo form. Next time through, will be when they tour for the new CD, which I believe is due this summer. Catch them on the Warped Tour, as the Dead 60s, The Briefs, The Street Dogs, Beerzone will be on the tour and will provide a welcome relief to most of the crap that is on that tour. Anyway, Thanks to Dianne from the DKM's Management and to the band for making my Easter Weekend. Up The Irish.
