The Nutty Right Is Going Over The Edge: The Lying Liars Roll Out The Discredited Doctors And Nurses.

Thanks to David Brock and the other folks over at Media Matters, the shouting class will not get away with rolling out more liars to bolster their charade that Terri Schiavo has been misdiagnosed. CNN motormouth's Bob Franken and Kyra Phillips are claiming that a nurse, not one from the current hospice that Ms. Schiavo is now ensconced in, has come forward for the first time to claim that Terri was known to talk to the nurses, sit up in bed, say hello when the nurses arrived, etc... Are nurses allowed to work while tripping on LSD? Said nurse, Carla Sauer Iyer, has been discredited, as have the other "professionals" who have come forward to testify for Terri's parents, The Schindlers.
Florida Judge Greer, in a 2003 ruling, had this to say about Iyer's affidavit, "The remaining affidavits deal exclusively with events which allegedly occurred in the 1995-1997 time frame. The court feels constrained to discuss them. They are incredible to say the least. Ms. Iyer details what amounts to a 15-month cover-up which would include the staff of Palm Garden of Lago Convalescent Center, the Guardian of the Person, the Guardian ad Litem, the medical professionals, the police and, believe it or not, Mr. and Mrs. Schindler. Her affidavit clearly states that she would "call them (Mr. and Mrs. Schindler) anyway because I thought they should know about their daughter." The affidavit of Ms. Law speaks of Terri responding on a constant basis. Neither in the testimony nor in the medical records is there support for these affidavits as they purport to detail activities and responses of Terri Schiavo. It is impossible to believe that Mr. and Mrs. Schindler would not have subpoenaed Ms. Iyer for the January 2000 evidentiary hearing had she contacted them as her affidavit alleges."
(My emphasis)
Read more on Iyer here.
I pray that with the Supreme Court refusing to hear the Schindlers appeal (The Supreme Court refusal was handed down at 10:30 AM, 3.24.2005. Salon covers it here), that this case is over and Terri Schiavo can at last die with some assemblance of dignity. But alas, I do not think that we have heard the end of this.
