Max Blumenthal: In Contempt of Courts.
Ok, I am back from a much needed vacation and am raring to go, however infrequently.
Kudos to Max Blumenthal for his article on the right wing looney fest, the "Confronting the Judicial War on Faith" conference, held in D.C. April 7th and 8th. This gathering was literally calling for the heads of a judiciary that has "gone amok." Well when they mean gone amok, it means that they aren't handing down rulings that are in line with their wacked out theories of jurisprudence. These folks will not give up and I believe that we have a group of irresponsible citizens that are inciting folks to violence. These folks need to be locked up. They now have decided to write their own history, from the constitution, to slavery, to civil rights, etc... Some of these folks are mad that rulings have been handed down that protect gays from having the shit beat out of them because of their sexuality. And these folks are supposed to be peaceful, loving Christians.
In my years of church going, and it was in the den of sin which I call fundamental Christianity, never did I hear calls to violence against any one group of people. It scares me how much this sect has changed. They are being manipulated by folks who don't care about them one bit. Their 1950's version of America is untenable in this day and age. They still try to raise the commie bogey man in every meeting, speech that they give. It is disturbing. I guess watching Fox News and reading James Dobson, leads you to think that we are being overrun by the godless hords. No fact checking. No brains. For a fuller flavor of the "God(less) Squad," read the full article here.
Salon's, Michelle Goldberg has more on the anti-Judicial terrorists here. (You might have to sit through an ad, but it gives you an entire day of access for free.)

Michael Schwartz must have thought I was just another attendee of the "Confronting the Judicial War on Faith" conference. I approached the chief of staff of Oklahoma's GOP Senator Tom Coburn outside the conference in downtown Washington last Thursday afternoon after he spoke there. Before I could introduce myself, he turned to me and another observer with a crooked smile and exclaimed, "I'm a radical! I'm a real extremist. I don't want to impeach judges. I want to impale them!"
For two days, on April 7 and 8, conservative activists and top GOP staffers summoned the raw rage of the Christian right following the Terri Schiavo affair, and likened judges to communists, terrorists and murderers. The remedies they suggested for what they termed "judicial tyranny" ranged from the mass impeachment of judges to their physical elimination.
