Bill Moyers Blasts The Far Right And Its Attack On PBS.
Last week at a media reform conference held in St. Louis, MO, Bill Moyers, veteran journalist and former host of "NOW", blasted the far right for their attack on PBS and journalism in general. Moyers is a hero, plain and simple. He comes from a rich and varied background: Native Texan, former Baptist Minister, former White House administrator under LBJ, and lifelong journalist. It is this background that informs his approach to his work. His knowlege is deep and comes from experience on the inside, which lends him a credibility that enrages the Conservatives. He is sorely missed, but is threatening a comeback should the media not respond to the criticism that they have abdicated their responsibility to give the American people the truth.
His speech at National Conference on Media Reform, sends a shot across the bow of the far right juggernaut that is corrupting our government, business, and media. All of those concerned with media reform should click on over and read the speech, right now.
Salon is carrying it, as well as Democracy Now.
