Dropkick Murphy's New CD, "The Warrior's Code" Due June 21st, 2005

Boston's Dropkick's Murphy's new disc, "The Warrior's Code", is due to hit the streets on June 21st. More pipes, more traditional renditions of Irish Folks songs are what this long awaited platter is all about. I love these guys. Even though the age of their fans seems to be in the High School range, there are a few of us old schoolers and loads of Irish folks who still make the shows. They are absolutely transcendent. I am a total sucker for Bagpipes. Whenever I hear "Scotland The Brave," or "Mull of Kintyre" on the pipes, it brings a little tear to my eyes and I get a little misty. The DKM's are such fucking hard workers and they love their fans. Though I have never met them, friends who have say that they are the nicest guys in the world.

Al Barr's voice and his presence has really matured. I have to admit, that I was not a big fan of his when he replaced Mike McColgan after their debut "Do Or Die." But, I really like Al now. (BTW, check out Mike McColgan's new band, The Street Dogs.) It is raw when it needs to be and melodious when they are singing the slower songs. What I have heard so far from the new CD is amazing. I will review it in full, once I get my hands on a copy. In the meantime, Epitaph has released a Mp3 of "The Auld Triangle," a streetpunk romp through an awesome traditional Irish tune.

The track listing is as follows:

your spirits alive
the warrior's code
captain kelly's kitchen
the walking dead
sunshine highway
wicked sensitive crew
the burden
citizen cia
the green fields of france
take it and run
i'm shipping up to boston
the auld triangle
the last letter home
tessie

"The Warrior's Code" will be released on Hellcat Records on June 21st, 2005. The Dropkick Murphy's will be featured on this years Warped Tour, along with Flogging Molly, The Dead 60s, Beerzone, and others. I might even go this year. I hate these big festival shows, but there are some incredible bands on this year's tour, so I might suck it up and jump in the pit, so to speak.
