Gay Friendly UK
Kos, reporting on the UK elections for The Guardian, observes a major difference between the conservative Tories and our Republican Wingnuts here. The Tories are actually pursuing the gay vote in the UK, unlike our anti-modernity conservatives here who are actively working to take away their rights and to ultimately demonize them. You would think that the Tories would be as anti-gay as they are anti-immigrant, a policy that they share with the backwater citizens on our shores, but they don't seem to share this particular discriminatory mindset. But our current administration and congress has raised the bar on being just plain stupid. Ah, I remember when I used to trudge 10 miles through three feet of snow in the winter just to get to school and we actually held in esteem elected officials who displayed some assemblance of intelligence.
The UK has, for the most part, a fairly well educated populace, though some may disagree with me on this point. Even the most lowly worker is by far more educated than our high school and college grads. Really!!! Well, the conservatives complain about our educational system and how we are not getting our money's worth, then they turn around and gut the very system that they want to "reform." So you Republicans aren't the Educational party that you claim, eh?
Well leave it to the anti-intellectual morons in the Republican party to cling to the anti-gay canards that help them win elections, because they don't have shit else to run on. Policies, schmolicies, what do you need those for, when all you want to do is fuck America up the ass.
