MTV, As Irrelevant As Ever.
MTV, further impressing just how irrelevant they really are tells Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, that their performance for the MTV Movie Awards might be offensive. Planning on performing their new song, "The Hand That Feeds" which warns about blind acceptance of authority, in front of a unmolested backdrop of George W. Bush, the Viacom owned network issued a statement containing this missive: "While we respect Nine Inch Nails' point of view, we were uncomfortable with their performance being built around a partisan political statement. When we discussed our discomfort with the band, their choice was to unfortunately pull out of the Movie Awards."
Well, Sumner Redstone sold out the Democratic Party to make more money, so this comes as no surprise. What actually surprises me is that MTV still considers themselves somehow cutting edge. Fuck MTV, they decided to take the low road to complete suckdom, might have redeemed themselves with MTV2, but are now in the process of sucking the life out of that channel as well.
Goodbye MTV, no one will miss you. You really are that irrelevant.
Thanks Trent and NIne Inch Nails for handing a big Fuck You to the man.
