NYC's Tax Dollars At Work: NYPD Out In Force To Arrest Bicyclists
Now you would think that the Mayor of New York would think of better uses for our tax dollars, than arresting folks who wish to spotlight a much healthier mode of transportation for all of us. But now, the NYPD were out in force on Friday and I do mean in force, horse mounted officers, etc..., to chase bicyclists around NYC. I would think that traffic abatement would be something that they would line up behind, as it would make their job, fighting crime, much easier. So, what do they do? They arrest a New York Times reporter interviewing a Critical Mass protestor, who was being interviewed simultaneously by a local ABC reporter. What a bunch of rubes. Now don't get me wrong, I am not a cop hater. I know they have a hard job to perform, but the problems that arise in community relations come from the top down. The dumbasses at the top, believe that they are untouchable and unaccountable to the public. Case in point, lying by arresting officers and doctoring of videotape during the RNC protests. Of course, noone will be held accountable and it will soon be forgotten until another incident comes to light.
Listen NYPD, we need you, but we do not need a unaccountable military force that feels that are civil rights are ok, just as long as they don't get in the way of their end goal, arresting someone. Be affective. Be proud to serve our community, but don't make us your enemy. Once we are your enemy, there is no turning back.
